African Americans and Prostate Cancer
Black men have 1.4 times higher incidences of prostate cancer and have a mortality rate that is 2-3 times higher compared to Caucasian men.
To put it another way, in the US, Black men have a 1 in 7 lifetime probability of developing prostate cancer and 1 in 25 lifetime probability of dying from prostate cancer.
In comparison, non-Hispanic White men have a 1 in 9 lifetime probability of developing prostate cancer and 1 in 45 lifetime probability of dying from prostate cancer.
