The Strength I’ve gained was worth it.
Jennifer’s Story
After going to my annual checkup, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in the milk ducts in the left breast and cancer in the lymph nodes on the left side also. I've been cancer free for 4 months. Early detection is essential along with caring doctors, nurses, and technicians. You have to have a team that is willing to fight with you.
As a survivor, it wasn't a journey I would have chosen but the lessons I've been taught and the strength I've gained was worth it. It shows God's loving compassion towards me. I discovered the genuineness of my friends. Surround yourself with a good support group. Be it friends, family or church members. It truly makes the journey more manageable.
I discovered that the poison they give you can be lifesaving. Losing your hair doesn't make you any less of a woman and that sometimes the side effects from the treatment can be worse than the treatment.
My favorite quote: Isaiah 41:13
"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you."
My doctor told me about CBBC. I believe if I had been told about the group when I was first diagnosed, it would have been of great help. After attending my first meeting, it was difficult for me to come back because of the drive. My wish for the future of the CBBC is to possibly start a group in the east valley.
